Report: Dustin Pedroia Undergoes Knee Surgery, Expected To Be Ready For Spring Training

BOSTON (CBS) -- Dustin Pedroia's unfortunate injury history continued to grow after the 2016 season, as the Red Sox second baseman reportedly underwent surgery to repair an injury in his left knee.

The Red Sox announced Thursday that Pedroia underwent a successful arthroscopy on his left knee on Wednesday at Mass. General Hospital. The second baseman is expected to make a full recovery in time for 2017 Spring Training.

The procedure was termed as a "partial medial meniscectomy and chondroplasty," indicating a torn meniscus as the injury. Jared Carrabis of Barstool Sports reported the meniscus injury during 98.5 The Sports Hubs's Zolak & Bertrand show. Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe tweeted that the injury occurred in Toronto in mid-September.

Pedroia played in 18 regular season games after the Toronto series, batting .238 with two homers and nine RBIs. He went 2-for-12 with a double in the Red Sox' three-game American League Division Series loss to the Cleveland Indians.
