Report: Dion Lewis To Undergo MRI On Monday

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots don't yet know the extent of the injury to running back Dion Lewis, but they are hoping for the best.

Lewis left Sunday's win over the Redskins with a left knee injury, which he suffered on a non-contact play. After remaining down on the field for a minute, Lewis was able to walk off the field under his own power.

But he headed directly to the locker room with the training staff and did not return.

After the game, the both Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald and Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Patriots will await the results of a Monday MRI to learn how bad the damage is. Schefter noted that there is a positive sign (no swelling) and a negative sign (a loose ACL) for Lewis.

Prior to suffering the injury, Lewis had four rushes and four receptions for a combined 53 yards. On the season, in seven games, he's rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns on 49 carries, and he's caught 36 passes for 388 yards and two more touchdowns.

"It's such a physical game and tough to lose such a special player," Tom Brady said after the game. "I hope he's OK. I don't know exactly what it is, but we're all hoping for the best."

The Patriots beat the Redskins, 27-10, to improve to 8-0 on the season. They next play Sunday at the New York Giants, followed up by a Monday night game in Week 11 at home against the Bills.
