Lawyer: Amy Lord's Accused Killer Attempted Suicide Again

BOSTON (CBS/AP) –The man charged with killing Amy Lord reportedly tried to kill himself again over the weekend.

However, Edwin Alemany, 30, was back in Suffolk Superior Court Monday for the Lord murder trial.

His attorney, Jeffrey Denner, told WBZ-TV's Christina Hager that Alemany tried to hang himself in the Nashua Street Jail.

Alemany is charged with killing Lord, a Wilbraham native and Bentley University graduate in July 2013.

She was kidnapped in South Boston, beaten, then forced to use her own SUV to drive to several ATMs and withdraw money. She was then forced to drive to Stony Brook Reservation, where she was killed.

Denner has previously said that Alemnay tried to commit suicide in jail back in August 2013.

Alemany is also being tried for assaults of three other women.

His lawyers have said their client has a history of mental illness and they plan an insanity defense.
