Red Sox Place Junichi Tazawa On 15-Day DL
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox' bullpen took another hit on Thursday, with reliever Junichi Tazawa landing on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement.
The move is retroactive to July 4. Tazawa has not pitched since July 3 and recently said his shoulder was "fatigued."
The 30-year-old Tazawa has certainly been used by John Farrell this season, seeing action in 35 games so far -- second only to Koji Uehara on the Boston roster. Tazawa was 1-1 with a 3.62 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched, holding opposing batters to a .215 average with lefties hitting at just a .151 clip against him.
To fill Tazawa's spot on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher William Cuevas was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.
