Red Sox Honor Veterans With Hospital, Shelter Visits

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Red Sox made sure to honor those who have served their country on Veteran's Day by visiting veterans hospitals and homeless shelters throughout Massachusetts on Tuesday.

Red Sox alumnus Sam Horn and mascot Wally the Green Monster, along with other members of the Red Sox front office, paid visits to the West Roxbury VA Hospital, the Brockton VA Hospital, and the Pine Street Inn in Boston.

Along with those visits, the Red Sox also participated in the "Back On My Feet" Veterans Walk and Run event in Government Center. The Veterans Walk and Run works to prevent and end homelessness among those who have served and will help support the New England Center for Homeless Veterans.

The Red Sox also offered free tours of Fenway Park to all servicemen and women on Tuesday.

Several members of the team took to Twitter on Tuesday to give their thanks to veterans around the world:
