Rougned Odor Reportedly Suspended 8 Games For Punching Jose Bautista

BOSTON (CBS) -- Major League Baseball is handing out suspensions for Sunday's brawl on the basepaths between the Texas Rangers and  Toronto Blue Jays.

Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor, who punched Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista in the face, has been suspended for eight games, as first reported by MLB Network's Jon Heyman. He was also fined $5,000.

Odor and Bautista, who was hit with a one-game ban, have both appealed their suspensions.

Toronto manager John Gibbons and pitcher Jesse Chavez were both hit with three-game suspensions for their actions on Sunday.

In addition to Bautista, MLB also handed out a one-game suspension to Texas shortstop Elvis Andrus, who threw a punch during the fracas. Blue Jays first base coach Tim Leiper also received a one-game suspension, while Toronto third baseman Josh Donaldson was fined $1,000.

The brawl occurred in the eighth inning of Sunday's 7-6 Rangers win in Texas. Bautista made a hard slide into Odor's legs at second base as the infielder turned a double play, and a shoving match quickly ensued. Odor then landed a punch to Bautista's face before the two dugouts stormed the field.

Bautista was on base after being hit by a pitch by Texas reliever Matt Bush.
