Range Rover Crashes Grand Opening Of Newton Store

NEWTON (CBS) – A grand opening of a store in Newton was upstaged by a luxury SUV that made a less-than-grand entrance and created an opening of its own Thursday morning.

A Range Rover crashed through the front window of the White House Black Market at the Chestnut Hill Square shopping mall on Route 9 around 9 a.m.

The front end of the SUV went through the windows and was planted in displays of high-end women's clothing.

No one was hurt in the incident, according to the Newton Fire Department.

The city building inspector was called in to check the building before the go-ahead was given for the SUV to be towed out.

No information was available on the identity of the driver or the cause of the crash.

Newton police are investigating.
