President Obama Picks Patriots Over Seahawks For Super Bowl LI
BOSTON (CBS) -- The NFL season has yet to hit its midway point, but the president already has his pick for Super Bowl LI.
In a Friday morning interview on SiriusXM's "Sway in the Morning," President Barack Obama predicted we'll all see a rematch of the Patriots-Seahawks Super Bowl of two years ago, with the same results.
"I have to say, at this point, you'd have to put your money on [Tom] Brady again," said Obama, who is unimpressed with most of the teams in the NFL. "I don't see any real strong teams. Seattle and Patriots have a rematch [of Super Bowl XLIX]. That's my call."
And he's not even pushing for votes in the New England area.
But the current Commander in Chief's prediction may not be far off from what actually takes place come February 5 in Houston. While there's a lot of football to be played, the Patriots sit atop the AFC as they head into their Week 8 matchup with the Buffalo Bills at 6-1. The Seahawks are 4-1-1 with a pair of 5-1 teams (Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys) ahead of them in the NFC.
Though we have to wait a little over three months to see if President Obama's Super Bowl LI prediction comes true, we'll all have a potential preview to watch in a few weeks. The Pats host the Seahawks in Week 10 at Gillette Stadium, their first matchup against each other since Malcolm Butler picked off Russell Wilson to seal New England's fourth Super Bowl title.
