Gov. Baker Attends Virtual Meeting With President-Elect Biden About COVID
BOSTON (CBS) - Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker was one of a bipartisan group of nine governors that attended a virtual meeting on Thursday with President-elect Joe Biden to discuss the coronavirus pandemic.
Baker was one of five Republican governors included in the call. The other four Republican governors in the meeting were Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, Kay Ivey of Alabama, Larry Hogan of Maryland and Gary Hebert of Utah.
The four Democratic governors that attended were Andrew Cuomo of New York, Jared Polis of Colorado, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico.
During the event, Biden stressed that he wants to offer any help that the states need from the White House. Biden also told the governors that he hopes to learn as much as he can from them about testing and vaccine distributions since the formal presidential transition process has not begun.
"My transition team has been able to get access to the things they need to be able to deal with everything from testing and guidance to all important issue of vaccine distribution," Biden told the group of senators.
