Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect In Revere Carjacking
REVERE (CBS) – Revere police are hoping the public can help them identify one of two suspects in a Friday carjacking that led to a manhunt in Melrose.
Police released a surveillance photo of one of the men they believed was involved in the carjacking at the Northgate Shopping Center Friday morning.
The two men were picked up by a taxi in the area of Tremont and Waltham streets in Boston earlier Friday and then jumped out of the taxi at Northgate without paying their fare, police said.
After getting out of the taxi, the two men sped off in a car that a 14-year-old boy had been sitting in while his mother shopped.
The boy was unharmed and the two suspects got out of the car after driving to Melrose and fleeing on foot.
For a period of time Friday afternoon, Melrose police asked residents to stay in their home while they conducted a manhunt but the suspects were not found.
Police say the suspects should be considered dangerous but are not armed.
Anyone who can identify the man in the surveillance photo is asked to contact Detective Kenneth Bruker at 781-656-1128 or kbruker@reverepolice.org.
