Police Searching For Armed Bank Robber In Berlin

BERLIN (CBS) -- A search was underway Sunday afternoon in Berlin for a man wanted in connection with a bank robbery.

Massachusetts State Police K9s and Airwing along with local police were seen combing through the area of River Road West and South Street.

According to State Police, the suspect was riding a motorcycle and involved in a chase Sunday afternoon with Marlborough Police. A state trooper later found the motorcycle abandoned at a Shell gas station near the Solomon Pond Mall. The suspect's motorcycle helmet was found behind Pure Hockey in West Berlin.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing black shorts and shirt and white socks. According to Berlin Police, he is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Berlin residents are urged to stay inside their homes during the search.
