Investigators Release Surveillance Images Of Suspect In Esplanade Attack

BOSTON (CBS) – Investigators have released images of a suspect in the indecent assault of a woman on the Charles River Esplanade early Friday morning.

State police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office are asking for the public's help in identifying the man.

The images showing the man believed to be the assailant were pulled from state police security cameras on the Esplanade.

Just before 12:30 a.m. state police responded to the area of the Harvard Bridge at Massachusetts Avenue where a 22-year-old woman told them a man on a bicycle had assaulted her after they spoke briefly, police said.

The woman ran and sought help from another cyclist who called 911.

Police say the woman described her attacker as a Latino male in his mid-20s to early 30s, about 5-foot-6 with a mustache and short, dark hair.

Anyone with information about the man in the photos or the incident itself is asked to call the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817.

Investigators said that based on the description of Friday's suspect, they do not believe he is responsible for a series of unsolved sexual assaults in the same area during the summers of 2007 and 2009.
