Police: Nashua Teen Crashes Car Onto Sagamore Bridge Railing

NASHUA, New Hampshire (CBS) - Police say a 17-year-old Nashua boy escaped a harrowing crash that ended with his car teetering on a Sagamore Bridge railing over the Merrimack River Saturday afternoon.

New Hampshire State Police, Nashua police and fire and Hudson fire crews were called to the eastbound Hudson Connector in Nashua for a single-vehicle crash at 3:35 p.m.

The teen had lost control of his Honda Accord, hitting a small snowbank along the right breakdown lane. His vehicle became airborne and landed on top of the railing, with the rear of it hanging over the river.

The boy was not hurt.

State Police say the boy failed to keep his car within the roadway lines. He was cited for a highway markings violation.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

It's unclear if texting may have played a role in the accident.
