Keith McKechnie, Avon man missing for more than 2 months, found dead in a well
UPDATE: Keith Mckechnie's mother believes police didn't do enough to find her son
AVON - Keith McKechnie, who had not been seen in more than two months, was found dead in a well in Avon Saturday afternoon.
Avon Police said he left his home on East High Street back on September 7 and never returned.
The Norfolk District Attorney's Office said a relative found him in the well near McKechnie's home. McKechnie was known to walk in the neighborhood. He was 45 years old.
Emergency crews who pulled his body out of the well said there was "no obvious signs of trauma."
Avon Police said the well had been "previously visually searched."
"Our thoughts are very much with the McKechnie family tonight," Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said in a statement Saturday evening. "This is a very sad result."
An autopsy will be done Sunday or Monday.
