Photos Show Rescue Of Man Who Disappeared At Sea

BOSTON (CBS) – New photos obtained by WBZ show the rescue of Nathan Carman who disappeared at sea after his fishing boat sank.

Nathan and his mother, 54-year-old Linda Carman, went missing after leaving Point Judith, Rhode Island on the 31-foot boat named the Chicken Pox.

Linda Carman has not been found and is presumed dead.

Her disappearance is being investigated by local, state and federal officials in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont.

Nathan, 22, was found by the Chinese freighter Orient Lucky about 100 nautical miles south of Martha's Vineyard.

Photos show Nathan swimming from his inflatable raft to the Orient Lucky. He says he survived with food and water in the raft and was in good condition when he was rescued.

While on board the Orient Lucky, Nathan told the Coast Guard he heard a "funny noise" before the boat began taking on water.

Police searched Nathan's Vermont home and seized several items after he was debriefed by the Coast Guard. Officers also searched Nathan's mother's home in Connecticut.
