Foxboro Boy With Brain Tumor Gets Birthday Cards From Around The World

FOXBORO (CBS) - There was a birthday-eve party on Thursday for little Danny Nickerson, the boy who got more mail delivered to his hometown post office than all of Foxboro combined.

Boxes and boxes full of birthday cards, all for the boy with the rare inoperable brain tumor who turns six on Friday.

"When we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said, 'Mail, I want mail,'" his mother Carley explained. "So he got mail."

An army of friends and relatives have spent days shuttling the cards to his home.

Letters have been mailed from Aruba, Texas and even from a squadron of Marines from Afghanistan.

"It's overwhelming how much stuff we have to let him open," his dad Daniel Jamieson said smiling. "He's going to have about another year to open all of them."

In all there has been about 50,000 letters received so far, with much more mail on the way.

Danny has a Post Office Box set up for anyone wishing to send a letter:
