Tom Brady Reportedly Makes Trip To North Carolina

BOSTON (CBS) -- It's still unknown if Tom Brady will play in Friday night's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

But those odds just got a little bit better.

The Patriots quarterback certainly wants to see the field, which was made clear by his comments on Tuesday.

"I'd like to be out there every time I get a chance to play, so you only get so many opportunities a year," Brady told reporters. "I'm getting so many opportunities left in my life, so I'd like to take advantage of any opportunity, any and all of them if possible. When you see your teammates out there in their uniforms and ready to go, you want to be out there with them."

The goal for New England is to have Jimmy Garoppolo as ready as possible for the first four games of the regular season, when he'll assume the starting QB job from the suspended Brady, so it would make much more sense to have Garoppolo start and take the majority of the snaps in a game that is seen as the closest thing to a regular season contest.

But don't be surprised if Brady does find his way onto the field, especially since he has made the trip to North Carolina.

Brady was not at New England's first two preseason games, both at Gillette Stadium, missing the first game to attend a family memorial and the second game after an unfortunate mishap with a pair of scissors.

But in making the trip on Thursday, Brady may get his wish come Friday night.
