Patriots Shane Vereen Looking Forward To First Game Against Younger Brother

BOSTON (CBS) -- When the New England Patriots host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, it will be a first for running back Shane Vereen.

Vereen's brother, Brock, three years younger than Shane, was drafted by the Bears this year, and Sunday will mark the first time the two siblings face off against each other on any playing field.

"This is the first time we've gone against each other in anything," Shane told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak on Wednesday morning, "I know a lot of family is coming to town the next couple of days. My mom and dad are going neutral, and will just enjoy the game as much as they can."

When it comes to securing enough tickets for the game, that all falls on the older Vereen.

"I'm the oldest so, of course," said Shane, before adding a little fuel to the sibling rivalry. "He's the favorite, so they'd never put too much on him."

Vereen said Brock is the baby of the family, so in his parent's eyes he can do no wrong.

"If he did do wrong, it was because I led him down the wrong path," he joked.

So what does Shane have planned for Sunday, when he's running down the field and the only thing standing in the way of him and the end zone is his little brother?

"I haven't really decided yet. I've been going back and forth: 'I'll run him over, no I'll juke him,'" he said. "I guess I'm just going to have to make that decision when the time comes.

"I'm looking forward to it and I know he is too," said Shane. "It's something we've always hoped for."
