Gronk Briefly Talks To Reporters: 'Feels Good To Be Back With Teammates'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Rob Gronkowski made his return to practice on Thursday, and took things up another notch on Friday.

Today, the Patriots tight end broke his silence.

Gronkowski, who has been sidelined the last two weeks with a knee injury he suffered on November 29 against the Broncos, gave a brief 15-second statement at his locker on Friday. He did not take any questions from the media, directing those to head coach Bill Belichick.

"I'm doing everything I can to get better every single day, and it feels good to be back with my teammates -- just mentally, physically to be back with them out on the practice field," he said. "And any other questions, you've just got to talk to coach Belichick. Thank you."

This is the first time Gronkowski has spoken to reporters since spraining and bruising his right knee in Denver. His family and the Patriots released a joint statement in the days following the injury, as speculation ran rampant about its extent. Gronk released a video for Bleacher Report regarding the injury later that evening.

While a Patriots player talking to the media about an injury is unusual, nothing about this latest Gronkowski ailment has been normal when it comes to the "Patriots Way" of doing things.

We'll know more about Gronkowski's status for Sunday night's game against the Texans in a short while, when the Patriots release their injury report for the week.
