Gronkowski Misses Second Straight Day Of Practice
BOSTON (CBS) -- Rob Gronkowski missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday, making it unlikely he'll play this weekend when the Patriots take on the 49ers in San Francisco.
Gronkowski suffered a chest injury on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, first reported as a punctured lung on Monday. But later reports said the injury was much less severe, while still hinting that the tight end could miss this weekend's tilt in San Francisco.
We'll know more about Gronkowski's absence when the practice and injury report comes out later on Thursday, but it will likely duplicate the DNP (Chest) Gronk was listed with on Wednesday's report.
The Patriots will hold their final practice of the week on Friday morning before departing for the West Coast. Thursday's absence makes it unlikely that Gronkowski will make the trip, as he was reportedly advised not to fly earlier this week, causing him to cancel an event in New York on Tuesday.
Gronkowski missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury, but leads the Patriots with 540 receiving yards on just 25 receptions. His average of 21.6 yards per reception is best in the NFL.
