Patriots Fans Say #NoBradyNoBanner On NFL Opening Night

BOSTON (CBS) – New England Patriots fans are furious with the punishment for Tom Brady and Deflategate.

So much so that there's growing support for the #NoBradyNoBanner hash tag on Twitter, suggesting that if Brady can't play in the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Patriots should postpone raising their Super Bowl banner until he can join them.

Patriots fan Mike Curtis, known to 98.5 The Sports Hub listeners as longtime listener, longtime caller "Mike from Attleboro" started the effort.

"I think this is just a product of Patriots fans feeling like they're being persecuted unfairly because of (the) national perception of them and previous punishments," he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Adam Kaufman.

Curtis said if you go to yourteamcheats.com you'll see there are "no squeaky clean teams in the NFL."

He also told WBZ he would be shocked if the #NoBradyNoBanner movement doesn't work.

"I can't think of anything that would be sort of more disconcerting to Patriots fans than tuning in on opening night, seeing Jimmy Garoppolo starting for the Patriots and watching (Patriots owner Robert) Kraft cow-tow to (NFL Commissioner Roger) Goodell by giving in to his big-time, prime-time season-opening extravaganza," he told Kaufman.

"I'd much rather see that banner go up in a 1 p.m. regional game that nobody but the Patriots fans will care about, while Tom's on the field, and gets a 15-or-20 minute standing ovation."
