BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots open the home portion of their 2016 season with a matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

WBZ-TV's Levan Reid brings you all the news, notes and fun facts you need to know ahead of the tilt:

- This will be the 102nd time that the Pats and the Dolphins will face each other, with Miami leading the series 53-48.

- The Patriots are 13-1 in home openers at Gillette Stadium. The last time they lost their home opener was to the Arizona Cardinals in 2012.

- New England and Miami will be meeting in the Patriots home opener for the 7th time in team history and for the first time since the 1990 season. The Patriots are 4-2 against Miami in those home openers.

- The Pats and the Dolphins have split the annual series the last two seasons.

- Bill Belichick is 20-12 against the Dolphins as head coach of the Patriots.

- Belichick needs three more wins to pass Curly Lambeau for fourth place overall on the coaching wins list.

- Since the beginning of the 2001 season, the Patriots are 71-21 in AFC East games. It's the best intra-division record in the NFL.

- Since 2001, the Pats are 39-16 in games decided by three points or fewer.

- The Patriots have won 81 straight home games when leading at halftime. The last loss was to the Dolphins in 2000, when the Pats were up 21-17 at the half and lost 27 to 24.

- Since 2000, the Pats are 41-1 in the regular season when they eclipses the 100-yard plateau.

- The Pats have recorded a sack in 30 straight games, the longest such streak in the NFL.

- Stephen Gostkowski is 18 for 23 from 50 yards or more. It's the highest percentage from that distance in league history.

- Miami wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson played for the Pats from 1996-1999.
