Patriots Awarded Third-Round, Three Sixth-Round Compensatory Draft Picks
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots will be without their first-round pick this year (thanks to DeflateGate), but they were awarded four bonus picks on Friday.
The NFL announced the compensatory draft picks given to each team, with the Patriots getting a third-round pick (96th overall) and three sixth-round picks (208th, 214th and 221st overall).
These draft picks cannot be traded.
New England was awarded these picks based on the players they lost and gained in free agency last year. They lost Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, Stevan Ridley, Akeem Ayers, Jonathan Casillas, Shane Vereen and Vince Wilfork. They added Jabaal Sheard.
New England was tied with Dallas and San Francisco for receiving the most compensatory picks for this year's draft with four apiece. Four other teams (Baltimore, Cleveland, Denver, Seattle) were awarded three picks each.
