Passenger Recalls Smoke-Filled Cabin, Emergency Landing Of Flight Out Of Logan Airport
BOSTON (CBS) -- Not long after an American Airlines flight headed for Miami out of Logan Airport took off Sunday afternoon, there were flames coming out of the engine.
Diego Romero, a dentist from Miami, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 the plane filled with smoke. Romero was with his pregnant wife and 1 1/2 year old daughter.
"There was still a lot of smoke in the cabin, everybody did not want to think the worst," said Romero. "All I could think about was my children."
A flight attendant was in tears and passengers thought they were doomed. The pilot got on the speaker and said an engine had a clogged filter and they were going to emergency land in New York.
The pilot made a safe landing and fortunately no one was hurt.
"I wanted to kiss the pilot," said Romero.
