Parent Finds Loaded Gun Next To Roxbury Playground

BOSTON (CBS) -- A parent found a loaded gun next to a playground in Roxbury Tuesday morning, Boston police say.

The adult was supervising his children at the playground opposite 435 Walnut Ave. when he discovered the discarded weapon at about 11 a.m.

Officers responded and found the Smith & Wesson .41 Magnum revolver fully loaded with a cocked hammer.

Police say they're grateful no one was hurt and remind the public that if they see a gun, don't touch it and call 911.

City councilor Matt O'Malley told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 police are conducting a ballistics test to see if the gun has been used in any crime.
