Orioles Honor David Ortiz With Phone He Destroyed In Baltimore Dugout

BOSTON (CBS) -- David Ortiz has received some extremely unique gifts from opposing teams as he makes his way through his final season in baseball.

But the Baltimore Orioles topped all the gifts on Thursday night, honoring Big Papi with the dugout phone he destroyed in Baltimore back in 2013:

Ortiz was not pleased with home plate umpire Tim Timmons after he ended up striking out after being up 3-0 in the count, and shortly after he got the heave-ho for voicing his displeasure with Timmons, Papi his frustration out on the phone:


Ortiz was fined $5,000 for his destructive antics, but at least now he has a memento from that epic meltdown in Baltimore.

The Orioles honored Ortiz with a video featuring his famous home runs against the New York Yankees -- something both Boston and Baltimore fans could cheer for. The team also made a $10,000 donation in Ortiz's name to The World Pediatric Project, which helps critically ill children in the Dominican Republic.
