October Trial Set For Irish Nanny Charged In Baby's Death
WOBURN (AP) — An Oct. 13 trial date has been set for an Irish nanny accused of killing a 1-year-old girl in her care.
Aisling Brady McCarthy appeared for a hearing in Middlesex Superior Court Tuesday, two weeks after being released from jail on $15,000 bail.
McCarthy spent more than two years in pretrial detention. She's currently confined to a relative's home, wears a GPS monitor and surrendered her passport.
The trial has been delayed while the state medical examiner reviews a finding that Rehma Sabir, of Cambridge, died of traumatic head injuries weeks before her January 2013 death. The defense contends the baby was not in McCarthy's care when the injuries were inflicted.
The next hearing in the case is June 9. Prosecutors estimate the trial could last about a month.
