Nylabone Recalls Dog Chews For Salmonella Risk To Pets, Owners
NEPTUNE, N.J. (CBS) -- Pet owners should be on the lookout for certain treats that could pose a danger to both dogs and people.
Nylabone is recalling its Puppy Starter Kit because the dog chews may have been contaminated with salmonella.
It can be a health risk to dogs, but humans who handled the product can also get sick. No illnesses have been reported yet.
Pets with salmonella infections can be lethargic and have diarrhea, fever and vomiting, and similar symptoms can be seen in humans.
The recalled product comes in a 1.69 oz. package with Lot number 21935, and an expiration date of March 22, 2018.
It can be returned to the store for a full refund.
