Not A Lot Of Luck: Andrew Luck's Career vs. Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -- There is no denying that Andrew Luck is one of the best young quarterbacks in the game, and one day will likely take the torch as the NFL's best passer.

He's improved in each of his three years in the league, both his on-field numbers and win total, and will play in his first AFC Championship game on Sunday.

However, he'll be playing for a trip to the Super Bowl against a team he hasn't had much Luck against during his brief NFL career.

Sunday will be the fourth time Luck will face off against Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, and like Luck's predecessor in Indy, Peyton Manning, the hooded one has his number. Luck  is 0-3 against the Patriots getting outscored 144-66 in those three games, with the average margin of victory by the Patriots at 26 points.

Against New England, Luck has thrown six touchdowns to eight interceptions.

So as we get ready for a week of hype leading up to the AFC Championship, let's take a look back at Luck's previous meetings with the New England Patriots.

November 11, 2012 @ New England: Patriots 59, Colts 24

Luck's first game against the Patriots and first trip to Gillette Stadium was no fun for the rookie QB. He threw three interceptions, including two that were returned for touchdowns by New England. Aqib Talib picked off a second quarter pass from Luck and returned it 59-yards for the score to give the Patriots a 21-14 lead. Alfonzo Dennard capped off New England's scoring with an 87-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

January 11, 2014 AFC Divisional Round @ New England: Patriots 43, Colts 22

Luck's second crack at the Patriots came the following year in the playoffs, and didn't go so well either for the former No. 1 overall pick.

Coming off an incredible comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs for his first career postseason victory, Luck and the Colts came into Gillette for the AFC Divisional Round. Once again the Patriots defense had his number, picking Luck off four times (two by Dennard, one each by Jamie Collins and Dont'a Hightower). The Patriots also sacked the often-elusive quarterback three times, while LeGarrette Blount rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns en route to the 43-22 New England victory.

November 16, 2014 @ Indianapolis: Patriots 42, Colts 20

Winners of five straight and coming off their bye week, the Patriots went into Indianapolis for a Sunday Night Football showdown with Luck and the Colts in Week 11 and didn't miss a beat.

Jonas Gray was the story of this one, rushing for 201 yards and four touchdowns. Rob Gronkowski also had some fun, shedding a handful of tacklers on the way to an impressive 26-yard touchdown to cap off New England's 42-point output.

Luck limited his mistakes in the game, but threw a costly interception in the second quarter that led to Gray's second rushing touchdown to put the Patriots on top 14-3. A Tom Brady interception before the half let the Colts make it a 14-10 game, but the Patriots outscored Indy 28-10 the rest of the way for their sixth straight win.

Luck's Line: 23-for-39, 303 yards, 2 touchdowns, interception

Luck's Career vs. New England: 0-3 record, 322 passing yards per game, 6 touchdowns, 8 interceptions
