Northeastern Police: Student Dragged Into Alley In Early Morning Attack
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston police are looking for help from the public to identify a suspect wanted in connection with an attack on a Northeastern University student early Thursday morning.
Surveillance cameras caught an image of a man around the time the student says she was grabbed around the neck in front of 572 Huntington Avenue then dragged to a nearby alley. Police say when she screamed the suspect ran off.
An email alert went out to students in the busy college area including Northeastern, Wentworth and Massachusetts College of Art and Design. "In the city we are aware," said Northeastern freshman Gigi Henderson. "At least they send alerts telingl you exactly what happened and where it happened."
Police say the student was walking home from work at about 4:17 a.m., a time when student Carolyn Conley says the streets are deserted. An alert security guard in a nearby dorm scared the suspect away. "You have to look at it and realize it does happen. Have to be more careful because I like to walk alone," said Conley.
