Norm MacDonald On Tiger Woods' Dominance: 'He Was Athletic But Everybody Else Was Fat'
BOSTON (CBS) -- Norm MacDonald may be one of the more beloved comics in pop culture, but you wouldn't know from his Twitter following. He's lost tons of followers due to excessive live-tweeting during big golf tournaments, but that hasn't stopped Toucher & Rich from wanting to bring him out to Norton, Mass. for the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Norm joined the show to talk about his love for golf as well as comedy, which he plans to document in an upcoming memoir. His uniquely subversive wit is peppered throughout the interview. He tells an amusing story about Steve Martin and talks about his current act, before his opener Fred Stoller takes the phone for a few minutes.
Later, Norm told the show his thoughts on the future of Tiger Woods. He had a simple but insightful reason for why Tiger was so dominant early in his career.
"Everybody wonders about Tiger, but that's why Tiger was so good - because he was athletic but everybody else was fat," he said. "Then the guys who grew up with Tiger became athletic!"
Norm seems to hold Tiger near and dear to his heart. You can hear the concern in his voice when mentioning him in the same breath as PEDs.
"That would crush me if [Tiger's success] was steroids. it would really crush me," he said.
Norm believes Tiger can still reach Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major championships, mainly because the Masters will always be in play for him.
