No Shortage Of Patriots Connections On Upcoming Season Of 'Hard Knocks'
BOSTON (CBS) - When the National Football League owners passed a 'Hard Knocks' rule back in 2013, it was clear that the Patriots would likely never be participating in the HBO summer drama.
All organizations are eligible for the show, except for those that have a first-year head coach (Bill Belichick is the longest-tenured HC in the NFL); teams that have made the playoffs in at least one of the last two seasons (Patriots are basically a lock for the postseason with Tom Brady at quarterback); and teams that have participated in the previous 10 seasons.
Given those stipulations, we won't be finding any reality TV cameras in Foxboro anytime soon for Patriots training camp.
But it was announced earlier this week that the Texans will be featured on the upcoming season, and given the numerous Patriots connections in Houston, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones thinks they are the next best thing.
Between Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer (former Brady understudies), head coach Bill O'Brien (former offensive coordinator), linebackers coach Mike Vrabel and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork (Patriots legends), football fans will likely get a small taste of the Patriots when the Texans are on the big stage.
