No Drones Allowed On Esplanade For 4th Of July

BOSTON (CBS) – There will be no drones allowed at this year's 4th of July celebration on the Esplanade, according to Massachusetts State Police.

They released their list of prohibited items, road closures and traffic restrictions Thursday.

The update includes this note on drones:

"It will be illegal to operate any unmanned aircraft (Drones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Unmanned Aircraft Systems) in and around the Boston Esplanade during July 3 and 4. Anyone operating one would be doing so illegally and could face Federal or State charges."

"No private drones here.  There won't be any government drones here.  There won't be drones at all here and the F.A.A. takes this quite seriously," State Police Col. Tim Alben told reporters at a news conference Thursday.
