NH Woman Slain During Neighborhood Walk Laid To Rest

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) -- Friends and family said goodbye to a long-time well-known member of the Manchester community.

A funeral mass was held Friday for 62-year-old Denise Robert who was killed last Sunday while out on a walk in her neighborhood. Those who knew her are shocked by the incident.

Robert was well-liked in the community and as a longtime employee at the New Hampshire Union Leader. Colleagues remembered her as a kind and driven woman with family, work ethic, and physical fitness as three important parts of her life.

Robert's brother Arthur eulogized her as a fiercely loyal "ball of fire" who did things her way.

"In our minds, we may never comprehend the senseless tragedy that cut Denise's life short," he said.  "We're all better for her beauty, her love, and her lessons."

Robert was shot to death in the area of Ray and Carpenter Streets.

There is still a question of whether the shooting was random or if Robert was a target.
