NH State Police: Man Drowns In Albany Pond

ALBANY, N.H. (CBS) -- New Hampshire State Police's Marine Patrol says a man drowned at an Albany pond on Sunday morning.

The marine patrol was called to Whitton Pond around 11:18 a.m. after receiving a report of an overturned canoe with people in the water.

Police say the canoe was about 400 feet from shore.

All three boaters were wearing life jackets, police say, but a man became trapped under the canoe.

Another nearby boater heard the cries for help, helped righting the canoe, and got two boaters to safety.

Witnesses administered CPR to the man who was trapped in the canoe.

He was taken to shore where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has not been identified by authorities.

Conway firefighters and rescue personnel, as well as the Carroll County Sheriff's Office provided help at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
