NH Family Wins Trip To Attend Patriots Playoff Game In Denver
NEW IPSWICH, N.H. (CBS) -- A New Hampshire family is embarking on a trip of a lifetime.
"I couldn't believe it," Kody Alix said. "We don't win anything."
The Alix family of New Ipswich is heading to Denver, after Carol Alix was the grand prize winner in a raffle run by former Patriots Wes Welker and Matt Light to raise money for their foundations.
The New Ipswich woman entered the online contest two days ago, buying $25 worth of tickets, then forgot all about it.
"I was at home yesterday babysitting my grand kids," she said. "And I got a phone call saying that I had won. Actually, I didn't believe her, so I hung up on her."
The woman on the other end called back.
Carol Alix was randomly selected out of 158,000 entries, winning four tickets to the playoff game. But with a husband and four sons, a weighty decision had to be made until her husband and one of her boys bowed out.
"I wish I could have taken everybody," she said.

Besides the game tickets, the family also won plane tickets, a meet and greet with Welker, spa treatments, and hotel accommodations at the Ritz-Carlton.
"I'll be out of my element -- put it that way," Carol said.
The family also won $500 in cash and the taxes for the entire prize are covered.
Nearly $175,000 was raised for the foundations from the raffle entrants.
