New Info Leads Brockton Police To Reopen Decades-Old Cold Case

BROCKTON (CBS) - It's been 24 years since anyone has seen Jennifer Lynn Fay. Although for years her disappearance was treated as a runaway case, her family never believed it.

"I know she was harmed or she would be home," Debbie Fay, Jennifer's aunt said. Jennifer's mom also believes her daughter met with foul play. "I've known all along Jennifer just didn't run away something happened to her. Hopefully this will be the year we find her and bring her home," Dorothy MacLean said.

Now new information in the cold case of the missing Brockton teen has led Brockton Police to reopen the investigation. "As of this morning they've assigned new detectives to the case and have reopened the case," private investigator Michelle Littlefield said. Littlefield has been working the Jennifer Fay case since 2005.

"About four months ago we had someone come forward and what we were looking for were people to corroborate information what we already know. That Jennifer met with foul play on Nov 14th 1989," Littlefield said.

For decades now family and friends have held vigils and retraced Jennifer's last known steps. The cold case re-opened brings great hope to a hurting family looking for closure and peace. "I couldn't be happier they are re-opening this case. I've been hoping all along someone would come forward," MacLean said.
