Truck Hits Bridge, Shuts Down I-93 South In Concord, NH

CONCORD, N.H. (CBS) – Part of Interstate 93 in New Hampshire was shut down Thursday morning after a truck crashed into a bridge.

The truck was carrying a dumpster when, for some unknown reason, the dumpster lifted up and it hit the Hoit Raod bridge over I-93 south in Concord around 6:15 a.m.

A highway sign came down, the dumpster was ripped off the truck and ended up on the road. Three other vehicles had to stop suddenly and that caused a chain reaction crash, according to the fire department. Three people were taken to Concord Hospital with minor injuries.

The fire department said one of the I-beams on the overpass was also damaged.

The truck driver, 57-year-old Joseph Brady of Conway, New Hampshire, was issued a summons for negligent driving.
