Revolution 'Super Excited' To Welcome Fans Back To Gillette Stadium For April 24 Home Opener
FOXBORO (CBS) – On the heels of their run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the New England Revolution will be welcoming fans back into their stands in April.
With the state's move to allow 12% capacity inside sports arenas, that means about 8,000 fans back in the seats at Gillette Stadium for Revs games.
"We're just super excited. We want our fans here," said club President Brian Bilello. "Being in sports is like hosting parties, and we haven't been able to host our parties in a while."
Bilello said bringing people back into the stands for their April 24 home opener will bring renewed energy back into the stadium.
"At the very end of the season we were actually able to have some fans on the road… and our players talked about how much they loved even the visiting fans who weren't supporting us."
While spreading those 8,000 voices across Gillette may not bring the same volume and intensity as a full stadium, they're sure to try and make up the difference.
"We know fans are just aching to get back any way they can, and we're sure they'll have a great time."
