Man dead after police shooting in Nashua, New Hampshire

NASHUA, N.H. – A man died early Sunday morning after he was shot by a police officer in Nashua, New Hampshire.

It happened at a home on Marie Ave.

New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said the incident started with a domestic disturbance call. When police arrived, they say 40-year-old Heath Thompson was outside the house armed with a handgun. 

Formella said one officer fired a less-than-lethal projectile. Three other officers fired bullets, causing the man to go back into the home.

He was later found unresponsive, police said. He died at the scene.

The chief medical examiner determined Thompson died from a gunshot wound to the chest. 

No officers were hurt during the shooting. 

Investigators said the names of the officers involved in the shooting will be released in the coming days when formal interviews are completed.
