June 9 On Mount Washington: Snow, Sleet & Freezing Rain
NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (CBS) – Summer-like weather has descended on much of New England in recent weeks, but as usual, the summit of Mount Washington is a clear exception.
The mountain's observatory posted a photo Thursday morning from the summit that looks like it could easily be from the dead of winter.
Highs on Thursdays are only expected to reach the upper 20s, with a wintry mix involving a few inches of snow and sleep accumulation.
On top of that, a cold, northwest wind could gust up to 100 mph, bringing the wind chill to about 5 degrees below zero.
