Morrissey Boulevard bridge in Dorchester reopens after being stuck upright for hours

Morrissey Boulevard bridge back open after getting stuck overnight

DORCHESTER - The Dorchester Bay Bridge on Morrissey Boulevard reopened Monday morning after being stuck in the upright position for hours.

The Exit 13B off-ramp had been shut down since Sunday at about 6 p.m. Police had to detour cars around the bridge, causing a backup on 93 North.

MassDOT said the bridge needed repairs to the "heel plates/joint areas."

Traffic began flowing back over the bridge shortly before 6 a.m.
