Missing Service Dog Most Likely Taken Devastates West Bridgewater Family

WEST BRIDGEWATER (CBS) - Angela Nowlin is furious. She says her 5-year-old service dog was stolen from in front of her home on Bedford Street in West Bridgewater on Friday afternoon.

"This is heartbreaking. We need him home, we definitely need him home. It's like he vanished, literally vanished," Nowlin said.

Mason is a dachshund and Nowlin says he's a tremendous service dog for her 10-year-old daughter.

"He helps my daughter, who has a lot of emotional issues, with her therapy, with her triggers, when she has her seizures," Nowlin says. "It wasn't just a family pet, he became her therapy dog."

Nowlin says she let Mason outside as she always does, but this time he didn't come back. She did notice a beige car with long red taillights parked on the side of the road where she later found her dog's collar on the ground.

"I yelled, 'Mason,' he didn't come. Then that car drove away. He wasn't out here" Nowlin said.

Nowlin searched the area for hours with neighbors. Police are also investigating and joined in to look for Mason.

Nowlin is pleading for anyone to help find her dog for her daughter's sake.

"I will not give up. We made fliers all over, we are on Facebook," Nowlin said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
