Woman Injured After Crashing Minivan Into Lawrence Home

LAWRENCE (CBS) - A 66-year-old woman is recovering from injuries after crashing her minivan into a home in Lawrence.

Police say the driver was leaving a car wash off of South Broadway Wednesday afternoon when she lost control, went down a driveway and hit a house.

"It looked like somebody picked it up and threw it right into the house," said witness James Waldie.

Two people who live nearby rushed to help the driver.

"Ran up to see if anybody was there opened the door and pulled the woman who was inside in the backseat out," said Waldie.

"Me and another gentlemen, I grabbed her by her legs the older man grabbed her by her shoulders and we lifted her up and we got her out of the vehicle safely," said witness Darynnell Batista.

Police say the driver was taken to Lawrence General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The owner of the home tells WBZ the ten residents will stay elsewhere for a few days while repairs are made.
