Flames Destroy NH Family's Home Days Before Christmas

MILTON, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire fire department is accepting donations for a family that lost all of its belongings in a house fire just days before Christmas.

The home on Pine Street in Milton was destroyed by flames Tuesday night.

A family of four lived at the home, including twin children who are in kindergarten. Fortunately, the family was not home at the time and neighbors were able to save their two dogs.

As the family sifted through the debris on Wednesday, the couple found their wedding bands.

"Put yours out so we can put them together. They survived," she said. "A little black and charcoaled but that's OK."

Donations began pouring in after Milton Fire Department Lieutenant Josh Biron reached out to the Facebook community for help.

"Turned into really this huge viral thing," said Biron. "Our post has reached almost 30,000 people and has you can see the outpouring of support has been just unbelievable."

Some pledged their support across state lines.

Firefighters say the young girl is a size 5-6 and the boy is a 5T clothing size.

An online fundraising page has also been established to help support the family.
