Boston Firefighter Michael Ricci Murdered In Marshfield Home, Wife Charged
MARSHFIELD (CBS) – A Marshfield woman charged with killing her husband, a Boston firefighter, collapsed in court Friday afternoon.
Christine Ricci, 46, was brought to Plymouth District Court to be arraigned on one count of murder, but she was she was shaking uncontrollably. Before she could enter a plea Ricci collapsed. The arraignment was put on hold and an emergency medical team took her to the hospital. There's no word yet on her condition.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said Ricci stabbed her husband, 51-year-old Michael Ricci, at their house on Moraine Street late Thursday afternoon.
"It's extremely difficult to process that something that horrible could happen and disrupt so many lives. Just terrible," neighbor Brook Howard-Keane said.
When police arrived at the house, they found Michael suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to South Shore Hospital but did not survive.
"Anyone around here will tell you they were in total disbelief that this could happened. I don't know what happened. I just have no idea if there was a history. I don't have a clue," Howard-Keane said.
Police were called and Michael Ricci was rushed to South Shore Hospital where he died from stab wounds. His wife was arrested. There is no word yet on a motive.
"This is an awful tragedy. Michael was a valued member of the Boston Fire Department for 23 years. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family," the department said in a statement Friday.
Christie Ricci's court appearance was cut short because she was unable to enter a plea.
Howard-Keane says she was a pleasant woman and her husband was very kind.
"They were a fabulous family. They seemed very loving. They loved their kids, their kids were great, they were great neighbors and it's extremely tragic that this has happened," she said.
