Metal Detectors To Greet Fans At Fenway Park This Season

BOSTON (CBS) - If you're heading to Fenway Park for the Red Sox home opener Monday, or any game at Fenway this season, remember there will be metal detectors.

Fenway will have 28 detectors at every gate.

Fans seem to be on-board with the added security measures, especially after the Boston Marathon bombings.

Major League Baseball ordered all 30 teams to implement security screening in time for opening day of the 2015 season. All fans are expected to walk through metal detectors at all entrance gates, no exceptions.

"Fans will remove cell phones, cameras, and other large metal objects before walking through the metal detectors," the Red Sox said in a statement Friday.

"Fans do not need to remove smaller objects, such as wallets, coins, keys, jewelry, eyeglasses, shoes, and belts."

The gates at Fenway will open two hours before Monday's game.

For the rest of the season, gates will open 90 minutes before game time.

The Red Sox will allow season ticket holders and Red Sox Nation members to enter at Gate C two-and-a-half hours before each game.
