McDonald's Testing Garlic Fries In Select Restaurants

GILROY, Calif. (CBS) – McDonald's is experimenting with a new twist on its famous French fries.

The fast food giant announced this week that it's testing garlic fries in four restaurants outside San Francisco.

The new side dish will be called "Gilroy Garlic Fries." Gilroy, a California city of about 50,000, bills itself as "the Garlic Capital of the World."

McDonald's has faced slumping sales in recent years. But the company said in a press release that it's trying more ideas from customers like the successful "All-Day Breakfast" roll out, and will keep experimenting with regional flavors to add to the menu.
