Green Line Service Restored After Train Derailment At Park Street

BOSTON (CBS) - MBTA Green Line service has been restored after it had been suspended Friday morning between the Haymarket and Park Street stations because a train derailed.

The westbound trolley car went off the tracks as it entered Park Street just before 9 a.m.

Riders were forced to evacuate the train.

"They opened up the doors and we walked the tracks back to Government Center," says passenger Jeff Durney. "It was a little weird. It wasn't that big of a deal. The T handled it really well. They had folks out there with yellow vests on, guiding everybody."

No one was hurt, but there were service delays.

"The first of the 2-car train had reached the platform while the second car had not. Customers aboard the second car here escorted to the platform a short distance away," the MBTA said in a statement. "There were more than 200 customers aboard the train."
