Matt Light: No Doubt In My Mind That Tom Brady Is '100 Percent Innocent'
BOSTON (CBS) -- Former Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light was pretty fired up about the whole Deflategate mess on Monday night.
"Felger and Mazz, they should be the first ones that I should call, because I would love -- I would love -- to just combat the idiocy of those two," he said.
So who better to invite to 98.5 The Sports Hub studios on Tuesday than Light?
The three-time Super Bowl champ and career Patriot joined Marc Bertrand and Scott Zolak in studio on Tuesday, and he came to the defense of Tom Brady.
"There's no doubt in my mind, none whatsoever, that he's 100 percent innocent of anything that's been talked about," Light said of Brady. "The guy wouldn't do that. He puts so much into everything that he does, and everything has been done at an exceptional level from day 1 with the guy.
"If you're going to call somebody's character and integrity into question, what do you base it on?"
Light did say that he believes the air pressure in the footballs is important, but it's something he never even knew about during his career playing football.
Matt Light: Goodell Is Not A Leader, Could Have Prevented DeflateGate From Day 1
Light can relate to the situation the Patriots currently find themselves in, as he was a starter on the 2007 team when "Spygate" ruled the news. Light contends that Spygate wasn't really cheating.
"The one takeaway I had [from Bill Belichick's explanation to the team, was, 'Look, we do everything we can, we study every single opponent, we understand their tendencies, we look into everything, and we do it by the book. Do we go right up to the line? You bet your ass we do. That's why we win,'" Light said. "Spygate, I look at it as this ... It's not like you cheated on your wife with Spygate. You may have sent a text to your old girlfriend, but you didn't cheat on your wife."
Light is also promoting his raffle, which gives fans the chance to win a trip to Indianapolis to see the Patriots take on the Colts in the upcoming regular season. Check out his raffle by clicking here.
